'…will be essential reading for anyone concerned with Traveller Education over the next few years.' - Multilingual and Multicultural Development

This book presents the findings from the first national longitudinal study of Gypsy Traveller students in secondary schools. The unique phenomenological study, sponsored by the Nuffield Foundation, documents the educational experience of 44 Gypsy Travellers in secondary schools since 2000.

These young people discuss their achievement and progress in education and describe their attitudes, values, expectations and aspirations. The analysis of their accounts provided a multi-perspective dimension from which the authors identified typologies and associations that can support and encourage Travellers to engage in schooling and achieve at Key Stage 3.

Published in collaboration with the Nuffield Foundation, the book is the key source for the project, which will continue to track the original sample to the end of Key Stage 4.

It provides new information for all schools with Traveller pupils and will be of immense value to academics, students and educationalists concerned with issues of inclusion, social and cultural diversity, school disaffection and identity dissonance.
